FRP Piping Repair & Maintenance
The Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) process requires many different components to run efficiently. At IA Mechanical, we work to repair all aspects of these FGD systems to ensure maximum efficiency. With recent growing federal regulations, FGD systems have become required more often than ever before. Exhaust gases can contain substances that are harmful to the environment, so this system has become essential to meet regulations.
We solve the problem as quickly as possible
FGD is an essential process to remove or substantially lessen the number of air pollutants that are emitted from several processes at plants and factories. Piping is an integral part of completing the process and it is essential to make sure the material and construction of pipes are of adequate quality to perform all necessary tasks. At IA Mechanical, we make sure all aspects of the process work efficiently, and if any unexpected occurrences arise, we will find a solution to get your plant back to normal and solve the problem as quickly as possible.
Fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) is growing in popularity as a material for many applications. It has a low cost and is highly sustainable and economic. This material is used for piping in FGD systems, more specifically, for limestone slurry piping. Fiberglass is known for its versatility and resistance to abrasive and corrosive material which is part of the reason why it’s a top choice for this application. It is also known as a product that is easy to update and fix if need be.
Due to its durable composition, FRP piping avoids the need for frequent updates and repairs. Fewer repairs mean less downtime for your company and less revenue lost. Even in the toughest application, such as with chemicals such as chlorine gas, FRP can be formulated to be extremely corrosion-resistant for long piping life. This is another benefit when compared to previously used metal piping as it was prone to corrosion and breaking down, and also had a shorter overall life of use.
When deciding which material to use in FGD systems, FRP is known to have a long life expectancy and are known to have extremely easy and convenient repair possibilities. There are often two types of fiberglass used: one with an internal abrasion-resistant liner and another is unlined. These different types of pipes are used for different applications throughout the entire process where needed.
To ensure that all aspects of the FGD process are running smooth and minimize the risk of running into issues, make sure to check that your FRP piping is operating as it should regularly. If there are any cracks, leaks, or other structural issues, it’s important to act on them quickly to avoid further issues down the road. For any operating or efficiency issues, call IA Mechanical.
